Dr. Vidhi Chaudhary
Dr. Vidhi Chaudhary has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, for over twelve years. She holds both M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Botany from the University of Delhi and has been actively engaged in teaching a wide range of botany papers to undergraduate students, including Phycology, Mycology, Economic Botany, Environmental Biotechnology and Ecology.
Her research interests include plant-microbe interactions and microbial biotechnology. Currently, her research focuses on the biogenic synthesis of nanoparticles using laboratory waste and medicinal plants extracts, aimed at evaluating their antimicrobial and antidiabetic potential. Dr Chaudhary also has extensive experience in areas such as arbuscular mycorrhiza, biocontrol of cyanobacteria, phytoremediation of heavy metals by aquatic plants and promoting public awareness of sustainable menstrual health products like menstrual cups.
She has been associated with several research projects funded by prestigious bodies, including the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under the AMAAS program and the Delhi University Innovation Project. Her work has significantly contributed to understanding microbial interactions in sustainable agriculture and environmental remediation.
Dr Chaudhary has authored over 20 research publications in reputed international journals, along with several review articles, book chapters and popular science write-ups. With 1998 citations and an h-index of 16, her research has made a substantial impact in the scientific community. She also serves as a review board member for the Acta Scientific Journal and is a life member of various professional societies, including the Association of Microbiologists of India.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Young Scientist International Women Empowerment Award by the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Science and Technology Organization. She has also received numerous Best Paper Presentation Awards at national and international conferences, including Rhizosphere3 International Conference at the University of Western Australia, Perth.
Beyond her teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Chaudhary has been serving as the Warden of the DRC Hostel for the past one year. She has played a key role in organizing seminars, symposia, and workshops, and continues to contribute actively to college administration and development through her involvement in various college committees.
