The discipline of Psychology provides an in-depth understanding of various aspects of human behaviour and personality. Psychologists are constantly evolving new approaches and techniques to adapt to the changing needs of contemporary society. The NEP provides an opportunity for the students to gain an understanding of inclusive education and learning experiences through in-depth knowledge of a variety of courses. The Department of Psychology at Daulat Ram College was established in the year 1969, is known to have an illustrious history of over five decades. The department is currently ranked No.3 pan India in the latest India Today ranking. The department aims to become a leading department of academic excellence nationally and internationally. The main visions of the department include: to promote well-being and flourishing in our students who can contribute to the betterment of society, to inculcate character strengths in students which can positively contribute to nation building. The department aspire to become a self-sustaining unit of the college offering research opportunities to a larger number of students in wide areas of psychology.

The Department of Psychology offers various courses such as B.A. Programme with Psychology Major, B.A. Programme with Psychology Minor, M.A. in Psychology, General Elective Value Added Course and Skill Enhancement Course. It is well-equipped with the state-of-art laboratories, latest psychological tests, equipment & software. It has an active Psychology Association which organizes several academic and co-curricular activities including national and international conferences, skill development programme, workshops, panel discussion and publishes the Departmental magazine- “PsyTrack”. The counselling centre is also being run by the department for students, teaching and non-teaching staffs of the college.

The Department is also the first in the University to have a “Psychology Resource Centre‟ which is actively involved in working towards positive self-development, mental health enhancement, value engagement programmes, capacity building, etc. The dedicated faculty uses the latest teaching methods such as multimedia presentations, movie analyses, role-play, case study, discussion, presentation and experiential learning. Our faculty also actively participates and mentors students in academic pursuits such as publication of research papers, attending conferences and supervising doctoral work.
