A robust judicial system and an informed citizenry constitute the foundation of a democratic society. Guided by this vision, Daulat Ram College established the Centre for Legal Literacy, Awareness and Aid (LLAA), the first-of-its-kind Centre under the umbrella of the University of Delhi.
Located on the first floor of Sadbhavna Bhawan within the college campus, the Centre is dedicated to promoting legal literacy, strengthening constitutional awareness, and facilitating access to basic legal knowledge.
The Centre aims to sensitise students and the wider community to contemporary legal and social concerns through awareness campaigns, workshops, seminars, and outreach initiatives. Through its programmes, the Centre seeks to cultivate legal consciousness and encourage informed civic participation within an inclusive and equitable framework.
In alignment with its commitment to accessible justice, the Legal Services Clinic was inaugurated on 20 February 2024, and the Information Board of Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) was installed within the college premises, advancing DSLSA's motto of "Sewa, Samadhan, Samarpan."
The Clinic functions as a facilitative platform for legal guidance and dissemination of information on relevant government welfare schemes. Free Legal Aid (Muft Kanooni Sahayta) is available every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and their family members through legal counselling support.
As part of its academic and outreach initiatives, the Centre organised the inaugural session of its flagship series, “Voices in Law: A Comprehensive Legal Session Series”, on 12 November 2025. Conducted in an interactive podcast format, the session featured Hon’ble Dr. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, Judge, Delhi High Court and distinguished alumna of the College.
The occasion also marked the unveiling of the Centre’s official logo, symbolising its motto: “Striving Inclusivity: Unfolding the Blindfold.”
In the new academic session, the Centre proposes to conduct a recruitment drive for the Centre’s Student Union, tentatively scheduled for August 2026.
